[[underlined]] Sunday 10th. [[/underlined]] we have had no company today. Dr. Shannan told Mrs. Peale as he passed, that Richmond has been taken by our forces, it may be only a report. Mrs. Peale is taking powders to act on her liver, she has been quite unwell for some time, I think she is rather better today Dr. thinks she had better not go to Phila. for a few days longer.

[[underlined]] Monday 11th. [[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale and I went to Potte. son after breakefast, stopped at brother George's, dined at James Patterson and left about 3 oclock, stopped a while at Mr. Snyders in SH. also at Mr. Levan's the old lady is quite sick and very feeble, called at D. Shannan's got some medicine for Mrs. Peale. soon after we got home Miss Walker, a gentleman & Lady from South America called to see us, they were much pleased with the pictures &c sold a barrel of Phosphate for Edward.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 12th. [[/underlined]] I took the Plants out of Mary's Greenroom this morning and dressed, trimmed and arranged them in front of the house. the wind from the southwest became very strong, which made some of the tender leaves shrivel up, but on the whole they are all the better for the open air. Put out 12 Tomato Plants.
got the Lawton Blackberries cleaned out and a part of the garden dug although the ground is too wet, Sowed quite a large bed of onion seed. Mrs. Try all day.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 13th. [[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale and I left home for the city ^[[insertion]] of [[/insertion]] Philadephia, had quite a pleasant day, met Thomas Walker going to Harrisburg on business, also the [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] South American & his lady, who came with Miss Walker to see us last monday. They are from the City of Valparasa. I had but little conversation ^[[insertion]] with him [[/insertion]] as the rattling of the carrs prevented my hearing him, he tells me that they have Railroad improvements. and when he left they had the city [[strikethrough]] carrs just [[/strikethrough]] Railroads finished & in operation.
We found on arriving at my son Charles all well. Mr. & Mrs. Frial & Ann. In the evening John came in, met Dr. Bechtel from Lebonan. Clarra, Albert & John gave us music, piano, violin & voices.
In the afternoon had a thunder gust. Mary went to see Mr. Tatham's family. We learned on our way to the Landing by Edward, that Mrs. Levan
