[[underlined]] Monday 13th. [[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale had a good night and is much stronger today. Miss K. Levan and Miss Small called this afternoon to see her.
Mrs. Donglog cleaned the weeds from the walks about the house today
The large Colt was altered today.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 14. [[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 103. This afternoon James & Matilda Patterson with all the young ones, and Miss Clemens, Mrs. S. Walker and Lewis came makeing in all 15 persons in his large carriage.
Mrs. Peale is very much better today, it has put us in good spirits. Mary and I both painted.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 15. [[/underlined]] I painted a little this morning on N 102. was much occupied with Edwards business most of the day.
Mrs. Peale is much better today.

Settled with [[underlined]] Julia Madden [[/underlined]] and she went to Pott[[superscript]]e[[/superscript]]. this evening.
[[underlined]] Thursday 16. [[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale is better today. stronger. This morning, Joseph's man brought Mr. & Mrs Potter down they have been staying with brother Burd several days. James, Joseph & George are all at the Union Fair today. I made a mistake, Mr. Potter come by the Carrs this morning dined with us, and Mrs. P came down in the carriage this afternoon they didnot stay to supper.

[[underlined]] Friday 17. [[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N 103 chiefly on the watermellon. 
Mrs. Peale is rather better today. The Dr. will come but once a day unless she gets worse.

[[underlined]] Saturday 18. [[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 102 John & Emma Patterson came down this morning and dined with us. Mr. & Miss Bast came this afternoon, Dr. Shannan brought Mrs. Shannan to see Mrs. Peale, he tells us that a telegraph dispatch says that Petersburg Vir. is taken and a large number of Rebels taken prisoner with but little fighting.
