July 11 1864
[[underlined]] Monday 11th [[/underlined]]  I painted the greater part of the day on N. 104.  Mrs. Peale is much better today she sat up in the morning some time.  It has been a trying day with her as well as myself.  
[[left margin note]] hot [[/margin note]] 77°. calm s w, clo 4 w  90° calm w clo 3 s w. 79° calm w lightning n w.
[[underlined]] Tuesday 12. [[/underlined]]  Mrs. Peale was taken very ill this morning about 5 oclock, in all probabillity accasioned by her eating tomato last evening late.  We were all engaged with her until Dr. Shannan came near 9 ocl who was sent for, soon after she was taken ill.  By injections, mustard plasters and medicine had releaved her very much before the Dr. came.  He came a seccond time and again this afternoon.  He found her much better than when he left this morning.
I painted a part of the day on N. 102 and 103.  
Took in some of the Rye and commenced cutting the wheat today.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 13.[[/underlined]]  I have been repairing the latches, putting on a lock and hinges &c to dining room and outer kitchen fixing window blind &c &c and weeding up the grass and weeds at the back of the house &c.
Mrs. Peale is better than yesterday.
finished the Rye and begun with the wheat.
This afternoon Miss Sarah Levan came with Rev. Mr. Wolf I.N.O. Gomberger D.D. & Lady.

[[underlined]] Thursday 14.[[/underlined]]  All the morning I was engaged in removing weeds from the walk at the back door and trimming the long shoots of the grapevine &c.
After dinner Julia & I took the parlour stovepipe down, after cleaning it I put it in the garret.  We then put up the one in the outer kitchen &c &c.
Mrs. Peale is better than she was this morning.

[[underlined]] Friday 15.[[/underlined]]  I painted a little this morning on N. 104. and worked about the back door.
Mrs. Peale is rather better today than yesterday.
Got 50 Lb of brow sugar @ 25 c. from Mr. Levan.
