  Miss Levan sent me her pet Cardinal to stuff it was late when I got it - commencing it I found the feathers came out very easily. I never was fond of stuffing cage Birds this being a favorite bird of hers I shall do the best with it.

  It has been snowing all day.

Received a letter from Burd saying that May was much better, the evening of the 28th. she walked about the room & has a better appetite.
  Also a letter from Franklin requesting some information relating to My Father & his brother & sister &c.

  [[underlined]] Thursday 4. [[4 overwrites 3]] [[/underlined]] I painted all day on N 100 being a Partridge Piece which I commenced this morning. Wrote a letter to Franklin in answer to his last, as follows.

  My Father was the grandson of the Revd. Charles Peale of Edith Weston in the county of Rutland England, and heir in full to the Manor of Walborn in Oxfordshire a relate of Charles Wilson Doctor of Physic, who died in Humford in Linconshire 1724. My Grandfather Charles Peale was educated for the church in England, but prefered coming to this country. He settled Chister Town Maryland where he taught school, officiated in the pulpit occasionaly. He married Margarit Triggs. died 1750 in Chester Town Maryland, leaving a widow and five children, the eldest was my Father E.W P. was in Queen Ann County Maryland April 15th. 1741.
Margaret [[?]] who married a British Officer and afterward Colonel Nothaniel Ramsey.
