disease is checked and now must be nurishing food admistered to give her strength. I fear it is too late. James and Matilda came this morning and dined with us. She brought some articles for Mrs. P.
Sarah Levan, Mrs. Levan, Miss Bast & 2 other ladies called to enquire after Mrs. P. She brought a young Pigeon (squab) and some fresh Tomatos.

Mrs. Peale being so much emacinated and so weak it threw me quite aback. I could scarcely drag one foot after the other and brought on my great distress of the heart and shortness of breath a blur in both eyes so that in the dusk of the evening I could scarcely see my way to the next house, no objects visible directly in front of me &c.
[[underlined]] Wednesday 18.[[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale seems much better, slept well. She is very weak, but this evening her voice is stronger. Brother George and Lydia came this morning to see her, but she was too weak to see them.
This evening Sarah Levan came to stay all night. Harriet went home in the morning train to Phila. It has been showery all day

[[underlined]] Thursday 19.[[/underlinde]] I have been all day with Mrs. Peale She has been very low and required to be magnatised on her chest. 
Dr. Shannan remained here all night. 
James Patterson brought Mrs. Bennit this morning and went to Potte. this evening. Mrs. Peale seemed quite pleased to see her.
   Charles and Harriet came from Phila. this [[strikethrough]] morning [[/strikethrough]] evening.

[[underlined]] Friday 20.[[/underlined]] I have been with Mrs. Peale during the day. Miss S. Levan went home this morning.
Dr. Carpenter & Dr. Shannan came this morning to attend Mrs. Peale. They finder still lower than she was, they think she may last a day or two longer.
Matilda Patterson and Mrs. Bennit came just before dinner Matilda remains here.
Dr. Shannan came this evening to remain all night.
