Mary went to see Margaret Shippen west Phil but forgot the number, she then went to Mr. Hubley, Edward, Louesia & Fanny just came from the farm all well. Edward H. came with him to see me James Peale came this afternoon, he appeared pleased with our work. Cora Sellers called.

Mr. Moran gave us a lesson this morning on a Partridge Piece painted in the skey and part of the foreground for Mary.
The news of last evening is confermed of the evacuation of Charlestown S.C.
Present this morning was Mrs. Christie, Anna Sellers, Anna Peale, Cora and Anna Sellers went in Anna Sellers's carriage this afternoon.

[[/underlined]] This day being set apart to celebrate the birth of Washington, and also the emancipation of slavery in the united states & teritories and the fall of Charleston and Wilmington; I intended to spend the day abroad but in looking over my late pictures I was induced to paint on N. 115 which kept me occupied all the morning.
This afternoon, Edward, Louesia, Fanny, A E. Hubley Edward Hubley spent the afternoon here and Charles came later. so I didnot go out of the house. It inspired me with delight to hear the state house bell ringing so merily at noon, but the firing of artilery was too distant for me to hear, one hundred guns were fired on the occasion.
