Sir,
I had the honor to recieve your notes of this day, enclosing a resolve of the Columbian Institute requiring a copy of my address to be
furnished the Committee of arrangement, for 
publication. The address, I consider as the property of the Institute. Permit me, through you, to return my sincere thanks for the distinguished honor which the Institute has been pleased to confer, and to request that my address, if published in a pamphlet form [[comma or comma strikethrough?]] may be dedicated to his Excellency the President of the United States, as [[underlined]]Patron of[/underlined]]  the Institute, and that the Committee will permit me to make a prefatory remark.__ Be pleased, Sir, to accept my thanks for the opinion which
