Baltimore 18[[superscript]] th [[/superscript]],, Oct[[superscript]] r [[/superscript]]. 1826.

Sir,

Your communication, under date of the 7[[superscript]] th [[/superscript]] insz, informing me of my election as a corresponding member of the Columbian Institute, reached me yesterday. It is always a subject of gratification to me to assist in promoting, as far as my feeble means will go, the objects for which your Institute has been founded, and it will be one of pride, if I can effectually serve it, which I would use my best endeavours to do.

Be pleased to communicate my acceptance of the honour conferred upon me by the Columbian Institute, and receive for yourself personally the assurances of the great regard and esteem of
Sir
Respectfully Your Srv
