Last night I had the fight of my life and was at last compelled to retire from the hot bed of trouble a beaten & a bitten man. They were after me and no mistake, I was coming leisurly from work to slumber when I was cruelly attacked without any warning by a large force of B.Bs after some trouble I escaped & took a cold bath thinking, for luck that it was heat, but when I returned to the bed they were sitting on the bedposts barking at me. Grabbing a lamp in one hand I made a savage attack with the other with the result that the dead to the number of 37 lay scattered about me. Once more I assayed to slumber but a large reinforcement ^[[from under the door]] attacked me left flank and some that had escaped to the bed springs hearing more trouble piled on & I ignominouly grabbed the top matress and two sheets and after much shaking deposited them in middle of the floor of the next room. & at four A.M. contrived to get a little

sleep. I have no use for BB's they are a cowardly & unsportmanlike lot. Not content with the try at my scalp they attempted Miss King's & I heard a fierce battle wageing next door for some hours. 

Worked a little on Senorita and rubbered [[double underlined]] at [[/double underlined]] the Prado with Miss Mead.

Monday

Worked on Senorita in the morning and on a sketch in the garden in the afternoon and a young kid here at the house danced for us after dinner and very well to. Dolores Canova and Miss Canedy came around for a minute.
