Left Anvers this A.M. at 8.48 and struck here about noon. Sherwood & Dabo went down to the train with me which was very nice. Just as I was leaving we got a letter from the three Americans (one of whom is a Miss McCurdy from New York) a poem illustrated with Sabots, it was not so worse. Landscape was interesting as we came along though not so much as the Spanish it being flat and more common place.

Found some bully Rembrandts here and a couple of Hals which are great in spots.

Rembrandts - Anatomy lesson
Simeon in the Temple
Susanna - Flight into Egypt -
Portrait of Old Man - Laughing Man several small heads, David & Saul Homer, nice head of little girl with big ruff and portrait of a man in scull cap, fur collar & cape probably brother or father, perhaps its old "Father Oats" its fine anyway.

Spent nearly all day in the gallery. Got a cup of chocolat and a bun had a shave and walked out to the town of Scheveningen the port of this Den Haag. The fishing folk are real Dutch and no mistake and I came back through their part of the town. The sea was fine, it was just at sunset and the sky and water were great.

I bought a reproduction of one of the Rembrandt canvases today, an old man with grey hair and a grizzled moustache and some beard.

It is one of the finest heads Ive seen after Philip IV. I don't know but it's the best +. Some great places in David & Saul to and in Homer
gorry parts of them are the limit.

Evening in.
