Schamberg and I painted.  Sketch at first unbelievably bad but pulled up somewhat.  The two chaps kindly waited.  Schamberg bad news.  We walked after supper and talked.  Up the hill.  Music store closed  Lights, color, Salvation Army.
July 3
Bathed, breakfasted and shaved.  Sheeler went to church.  Schamberg and I went up to Heath talking.  Horse pond on top, View, band, rain, open-air preacher.  Started home, more rain, came by St.H. Metro Ry. Sta.  Sudden sunlight.  Righted room and fixed fiddle.  After dinner, practised with Miss Northrop, it went a little better than expected.  Went with Schamberg to Regent's Park and rowed.

Lake pretty but crowded.  Sat in park and had long chin-chin, continued as we walked home by bandstand and more so when we were home.  Reminiscent and intimate.  Resemblances and differences.  Mrs. Medlock to supper, which was gala, with grace.  Violin afterward; then photos, - admired and somewhat appreciated.  Then grand discussion with Miss Miller and Schamberg - Miss Farrar, Sheeler, photography as a means of expression.  I said not - late.
July 4
Resolution to rise early and get a sketch for crit. missed fire.  Talk of July 4 and no celebration.  Mr. Chase gave something of a one in his pro-crit speech.  We are to show English how to do it.  Good talk.  Quality.  Small showing.  Sheeler and Schamberg
