July 21.

Got to studio and worked up my brass thing, table and tea pot.  Hurried to Wallace collection somewhat later than I had thought.  Lunch on time.  Met Groesbeck.  Saw pictures some.  Rembrandt and Equestrian Carlos were the ones for the day.  Came back to studio and then went out and did a street scene not successfully but not too badly.  Hurried home.  Talked again, saw photos and wrote, fairly late.

July 22.

Got up at six, went to Heath, and got pond sketch of last week into presentable shape.  Breakfasted and went with Miss Farrar to ask for Miss Myatt-better.  All this take time.  Thumb-box sketch in Autrian Street-for crit.  Went to studio, lunch eaten but I got some.  Got Lichtolan Consternatigras [[?]] price.   Painted from girl again with red flowers and

kimono.  It looked better.  Shall show it [[insertion]] accts ok [[/insertion]] Smokes and talks and songs later.  The two Mrs. Scoles called charmingly.  Washed, brushed, another pipe and wrote diary.

July 23

As offset to yesterday's early rising, got up and down late.  used for suitcases etc. [[strike-through]] went and out [[?]] with [[strike-through/]].  Thumb-box thinking to go City After.  But found one can put in as much time on little sketch as big one.  Did not go to City till after (picknicky) dinner.  Guildhall.  Fine old gray building.  Enjoyed show very much.  Lavery's "Vera Chryste" "Mary ow Roses" and "Erin by the Sea: Roche-swell big and beautiful; the two Shannons, then Bridgewater House. (Immense value of a bracer).  Imposing exterior, Magnificent interior.  Court with fountain, Green marble.  Gallery above, Family portrait rooms.  The real thing.  Great.  Mr. Chase and Mr. Lavery.  "Lord Elsmere?" The real lord.  Taken to his gallery
