Started after breakfast for repair shop.  Found it and left mug.  Went to laundry.  Delay about trip.  Met crowd.  Went out to Kensington with Webster.  Got to Shannon's as Mr. Chase did.  Introduced to Shannon-handsome man.  Interesting pictures-but I have my opinion.  Nice little bits.  Miss Shannon-charming, English. Went later with Miss Herr to N.G. via Jermyn St.  Lavender.  Lovely time. Met Schamberg.  Discussion and enjoyment of Velasquezs.  Then Canale and Dutchmen.  Traburystads [[?]].  Bus to studio.  met Tomiskey.  The near schools.  People want to

buy paint at the end.  Fish still life arranged.  Very jolly lunch.  Mr. Chase gets to work - resolutly [[?]].  Life-history of a great work of art.  People breathless.  The nice handsome Adams; whom Schamberg brought.  Picture perfecting.  Signed in full.  Great applause.  Then research breathlessness till we know that--Miss Taylor won it.  Joy and sorrow.  Then the presentation-nice and nice speech from the Daddy-the Master.  General happy feeling.  Congratulating Miss Taylor.  More paint selling and hurry home.  Made several calls with Schamberg - to get rid of found Balderer etc.  The girls going calling but as we were not invited, we went home-which was rather foolish.  Betts and Sheller were not.  But Schamberg and I had one of our pleasant, quiet intimate talks-mostly about the work which every one feels is not up to
