I brought some plants down to my camp and they grew and bloomed nicely. In planting them I gave them a south exposure and after covering their roots with dirt, I placed rocks over the roots. I imagine the rocks protect the roots from our very hot sun, and probably help retain the moisture. I am watching to see if the seeds mature, and if the young plants are propagated by the root or seed. This year I shall plant some seed carefully. I believe that high up in our canyons and mountains there are many new plants to be discovered. I love nature, and am particularly interested in the flowers and trees and birds in and near my camp. I live right against the Mazatzal Mts. in northern Gila Co., fifty miles north of the Roosevelt Dam. I am hoping to have Dr. and Mrs. Thornber visit us this spring, as I have a lot of interesting plants to show them. I should like to know if the Cotyledons reach you in good condition. Yours very truly Rose E. Collom (Mrs. W. B. Collom)
