             At Jenny Owen's.

on the top of the ridge which separates Moelwyn & Bnicht we have lost the path, but soon found it and made a descent of several miles down the side of Moelwyn. When we had reached the bottom we came to a cottage at which we got some tea. We had to make known what we wanted by signals, as the people could not speak a word of English. After leaving this place we went on till we came to a beautiful bridge, which is at the foot of Hant Vanmo. After sketching it we again set off and soon reached our little spring, where we got a drink and fed the chicken with some bread. We arrived at home about 4 o'clock.
10th Rested after our previous two days exertion.
11th Father painted a sketch of Slyn Dinas & Moel Siabod. I made a water colour sketch. Mr. Vawdney came to see us and brought Mrs. & Miss. Wyatt, (wife and daughter of the trustee of Pevhyn Castle) to see the sketches with which they were very much pleased, particularly with that of Slyn Dwal, which they thought that Colonel Douglas Venant would like. Of the American ones they liked the
(that father painted for Mr. Smith just before leaving) the best. Mr. Vawdney said we must come and see him on Wednesday if it be fine.
In the afternoon father finished his sketch. I made another water colour sketch. After tea father & mother went to Mrs. Sywoner's

to show them the sketches. They were very much pleased and particularly with the American ones. They wanted us to come to tea on Friday evening. Father & mother liked the people & admired their comfortable little home. I rigged a little ship for Mrs. Vawdney's son, a boy between six and seven years old.

12th Father & I went down to the chapel ad got some meat which was left there for us. Father had a headache.
13th. Father painted a sketch of Moel Syn & Bnicht. I made a water colour drawing. Mother & Silly sewed.
14th Father & Mother packed trunks. I made a watercolour sketch of a lighthouse, packed in things, wrote in journal. Father & I took a walk to see the fine waterfalls again.
18th Full day. I helped father to make two drawing blocks. He and I went to a waterfall which father painted in watercolours. After dinner it cleared up. Mother made [[soaten?]] while Father and I went to Mr. Vawdney's and showed him, his wife, and a friend the sketches, and they were all delighted with them. We stayed to tea, and had a very pleasant time. Mr. Vawdney told us that we must come and see him at his home in Derby. He showed us some little drawings which he had made in Switzerland which were very good. I gave his son Master Slywelyn the little ship that I had rigged for him.
