through the bottom of the pass. There are many fine cascades, one of which is fully up with any of the [[Ptas-gwynant?]] ones for beauty. In about fifteen or twenty minutes after leaving the pass, we came to Loch Awe and Kilchum Castle. The castle somewhat resembles Dun Stafnage both in its plan and situations. After passing many fine scenes for pictures, we reached Dalmally at noon. After a cup of tea, we made inquiry about lodgings, and were directed to a Mr. Dewan about a mile back the road we had come over. Father and mother went there and made a bargain, then came back, got out our luggage, all but the trunks, and we set off to the place On the way we fell in with a man who had a hores and cart hitched up, so we offered him a shilling to fetch the trunks, he accepted the offer, and started right away.
