For the hire of Negro ^[[Harry -]]
for the year 185^[[2]], the Virginia Central Railroad Company promise to pay to ^[[Robert Sting of Albemarle,]] or ^[[his]] assigns, the sum of ^[[One hundred _______.]] Dollars, on the first day of January 185^[[3]]. Said Negro [[handwritten dash]] to be employed on the VIRGINIA CENTRAL RAILROAD, and to be returned well clothed in the usual way, and with a Hat and Blanket.
