Both looking over scrap and photographs for help! help! on second Squibbs drawing.
[[insert right margin]] After 5 mins. acetone does not dissolve casein. [[/insert right margin]]
Arthur tried out experiments in stretcher sticks for hr. early in morning. Made one stretcher - coated, 4 big panels, 2 canvases, (sail cloth)- Went to Northport for more sail cloth. Mr Brown says that linseed oil, commercial kind, rots cotton out doors in 3 months. But this Egyptian cotton is much stronger than the ordinary grade of linen. A coating of casine fixative made after German receipt ought to stop penetration of oil into cotton. Testing oil with litmus paper it contains no acid. Commercial oil turns paper slightly. Arthur sketched in Squibbs drawing.
