Exhibit A

Whereof is hereby fully acknowledged have this day bargained and sold unto the said Jane Dickson a certain Negro Boy Slave by the name of Henry about
Twenty years old dark complected and I warrant the said negro Boy to be sound in mind and body and a
Slave for Life, the conditions of the above bill of sale arew such that whereas the said  Jane Dickson Sr. is the holder of and owner of a certain promissory
note on the said  Joseph W. Davenport with  William Davenport & Stephen Reaves as Securiters bearing note here with and payable to the said Jane Dickson Sr by the first day of January next 1855 for five hundred and forty seven Dollars and fifty cents Drawing Twelve per cent interest from maturity until paid.  Now if the Said Davenport Shall well and truly pay off Satisfy and exchange the said promissory note at maturity then the above instrument to be null and void. Otherwise to remain in full force and effect. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal or Scroll being used for a seal this 22nd
day of March  A.D. 1854  --
