W laughs says "Wait lets ask him"  But we go on.  Take 6 train to New Haven to see mother.  Find her fairly but not resting well at night.  back on

Sunday

   Monday 31 March  drop in to Nan in Brooklyn & Carol brings over Jerome and Teresa.  Eve there  Stop at Knoedlers find ex of Bellows in big gall.  B there talking to Roland Knoedler.  I go over to look at Bs "Widow"  hear a voice behind me "Hello Jimmy".  Griffin thinks he likes the Bellows stuff.  As Griff goes out Herschel comes in and says there is cut down  adv. during summer but in the fall they'll see.  Really now.  In comes Hayley Lever & wife.  Mrs. L asks for Carol  Sloan comes in with his wife.  Shakes hands  I sit down  Charlie Knoedler comes over & says How do you do when you write, do you get up in the night when you get an idea.  Henri comes in & Charlie K remarks that he looks like a Chinaman.  Bellows looks like young Charlie Flagg  boyish big chap very unlike his pictures.  His wife a sprightly little woman who seems to eye me.  Lever asks about that paper.  I tell him to watch out for it.  Mrs. Sternes
