Abundant, along  and near river (stream or a creek). Curious bamboo, looking like one Olyra, small clumps, herbaceous? or up to 5m, but usually [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] short about 1 or 1.50 m. 
Culms solid but rather [[underlined]] soft [[/underlined]]. (herbaceous?)

Buds below sheath (but they break through a sore of bract on the base of the sheath that seems to cover it below the node. It seems that [[overwritten]] they [[/overwritten]] there [[strikethrough]] are [[/strikethrough]] is one central, main bud and [[strikethrough]] 2 [[/strikethrough]] 1 or 2 on each side. They develop in 3-5 branches sometimes one layer then the others. Branches with leaf-complement from upside down, ie. in opposite direction that the sheath (with blade) of the culm.
