was held. Then after light lunch where [[red underline]] Mrs. Edison [[/red underline]] was present we all left to join the [[red underline]] parade. [[/red underline]] After it was ascertained that I was the [[red underline]] tallest [[/red underline]] member of the [[red underline]] Naval board [[/red underline]] I was placed on extreme left as guide. [[strikethrough]] Edis [[/strikethrough]] we marched in one single line 18 abreast and [[red underline]] Edison [[/red underline]] marched ahead between Cooper [[red underline]] Hewitt [[/red underline]] and Saunders
Good marching. Ahead of us the organizing committee of the engineers. [[red underline]] Edison [[/red underline]] and Naval Board were much cheered and applauded. Everybody eager to see Edison who marched steadily and by his deafness seemed to be unaware of the cheering

Parade impressive by its dignity and simplicity.
We disbanded at 57 street, then went to University Club where I remained till after 10 P.M when end of parade arrived. [[strikethrough]] Took supper with [[/strikethrough]] [[red underline]] Dr. Chandler [[/red underline]] arrived. He too had been in parade. he took supper with us: Davis, Anthony, Luding, and [[red underline]] Major Elliot. [[/red underline]] 
Home with 11:45 felt rather tired.
