At 1 P.M lunch at Maryland Club as guest of President [[red underline]] Goodenow. [[/red underline]] where I met Prof. [[red underline]] Thomas [[/red underline]] fellow member of [[red underline]] Inventor's Guild [[/red underline]] and that [[red underline]] remarkable man Dr. Welch. [[/red underline]] My neighbor was Mr. [[red underline]] Brown [[/red underline]] the banker, member of [[red underline]] original house in Baltimore whence originated Browne and Shipley [[/red underline]] in London.

engineering laboratory splendidly equipped. Met Prof. [[red underline]] Whitehead [[/red underline]] there who knew me too.
At 6:30 P.M. another dinner at [[red underline]] Maryland Club [[/red underline]] this time guest of Wagner, President of Gas Company, mostly with men connected with gas Co. [[red underline]] Dr Welch [[/red underline]] sat next to me and like usually had a most interesting conversation [[red underline]] covering practically every range of human interest. [[/red underline]] No wonder he is so well known and so much liked by everybody.
Then we were driven to McCoy Hall at [[red underline]] University [[/red underline]] where the addresses were to be delivered. Room almost entirely filled - many women. After Pres. Goodnow had made introduction, [[red underline]] Aldred [[/red underline]] president of Consolidated
