Left at about 11 A.M. Fine weather cool and crisp. Near [[underlined in red]] League Island went slowly to observe possible site for laboratory of Navy. Site is undoubdetly good [[/underlined in red]] and not far from deep channel. [[underlined in red]] But distance from Philadelphia is rather inconvenient specially in view of poor transportation [[/underlined in red ]] facilities. [[underlined in red]] I believe it is [[/underlined in red]] [[strikethrough]] easier [[/strikethrough]] more convenient to travel from [[underlined in red]] Washington to Annapolis [[/underlined in red]] in good cars than the crowded small surface cars from Philadelphia to Navy Yard. I also notice that [[underlined in red]] water is rather muddy of a brownish appearance much less [[/underlined in red]] clear than water in [[underlined in red]] Severn River at Annapolis [[/underlined in red]]
