Jan 26.  At noon at Chemists Club.  Meeting of directors of [[red underline]] Am. Institute Chemical Engineers [[/red underline]]  Later on at 5 P.M. met a certain Mr. [[red underline]] Zyve [[/red unerline]], a russian introduced by [[red underline]] Levine [[/red underline]].  Young man who was professor at some private school in France.  Seems rather superficial [[red underline]] ignorant and vanitous. [[/red underline]]  Wants a position for research but has never done any research to amount to anything.  Seems blissfully unaware of american conditions of our Universities, our chemists

Evening met [[red underline]] A. H. Hooker [[/red underline]] to talk about plans for work with Malin and electolytic metals and [[red underline]] program of Hooker Co. [[/red underline]]  Then meeting trustees of [[red underline]] Chemists Club.  Club now has $5000 [[/red underline]] above indebtedness.  Some want to invest it in [[red underline]] Mortgage of Club, [[/red underline]] others in enlargement of Club rooms etc. etc. all absurd schemes. [[red underline]] I tell then now is the time to induce all stockholders of the Building Co. to donate their [[/red underline]] stock to Club and this should be done [[black underline]] now [[black underline]] and [[red underline]] not later.  The chemical industries are [[/red underline]] prosperous as they never have been in the past and as they never will be in the future and a [[red underline]] crash may come any time [[/red underline]], and
