Sept 15. Busy day. Afternoon went to New York, met [[red underline]] Cappart and Lamquet [[/red underline]] another Belgian at Plaza. Drove Cappart to station
Sept 16 (Sunday). [[red underline]] Miss Anthony [[/red underline]] here all day. I saw for first time those marvelous Greek Gardens next door at Untermeyer's place. Evening [[red underline]] Celine Miss Anthony and Nina [[/red underline]] went all with me for supper at Longue Vue.
Sept 17. [[red underline]] Nina and Miss Anthony took steamer to West Point. [[/red underline]] Evening went with [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]] to soldiers camp at Van Cortlandt Park tonight. [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]] played piano in [[red underline]] their Club tent. [[/red underline]][[vertical red pencil mark in left margin]] What an orderly serious minded lot of young men. [[red underline]] What a difference between European soldiers [[/red underline]]

Sept 18. Went to New York to close

my account at Farmers Loan and Trust Company withdrew balance in cash and deposited [[red underline]] $9000 [[/red underline]] in cash at Goodbody & Co. 
Evening at University Club.
Sept 19. At noon went to luncheon arranged by Dr. [[red underline]] Alcan Hirsch [[/red underline]] as a send off to ^[[Roland S.]] Morris the newly appointed [[red underline]] Ambassador to Japan [[/red underline]].  Nathan Straus [[strikethrough]] former and Elkus [[/strikethrough]] former [[red underline]] Ambassador to Turkey and Elkus [[/red underline]] just returned was there at my right. [[red underline]] Mrs. Joseph Fels [[/red underline]] a short quiet lady in black with a friendly smile. [[red underline]]  Dr. Gulich, Takamine, Oswald Villard, Lillian Wald, Crystal Eastman and some other [[red underline]] theorist-pacifists [[/red underline]] there. Also that stalwart looking man [[red underline]] Rabbi Stephen Wise, [[/red underline]] who like myself was formerly a pacifist until [[red underline]] Germany's [[/red underline]] brutality compelled me and many other pacifists to [[red underline]] aban- [[/red underline]]
