Numerous enthusiastic gathering. 
Ishii very outspoken about [[red underline]] German intrigues [[/red underline]] which have tried to foment trouble between United States and Japan.  Governor Whitman there also [[red underline]] Mayor Mitchell. Arthur von Briesen sat at my table and applauded whatever was said against Germany. - Sour grapes! [[/red underline]]

Mrs Dunbar to Yonkers.
Sept 29. Met at chemists club for supper to discuss possible improvements for next years chemical exposition.
Sept 30 1917 (Sunday). Here all day, then afternoon to University Club.
Oct. 1. Here all day.
Oct 2. This afternoon weather so fine.  Celine busy.  Went out alone with little car to across River at Dyckman str. beautiful sight of Palisade Park.  Went along unfinished road, nobody there.
Oct 3. Meeting of Directors and of stockholders of [[red underline]] General Bakelite [[/red underline]] Co.  Took lunch with [[red underline]] Celine and Nina at Ritz Carlton [[/red underline]] then went together to [[red underline]] Metropolitan Museum of Art.[[/red underline]] Evening went to supper at Lafayette then to a play "The Eyes of Youth" then all home.
