This afternoon took Celine in small car to the Palisades over Dyckman str Ferry.  Marvelous landscape beautiful day.
Oct 17. Here all day till evening. [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]  went to lecture by [[red underline]] Capart. [[/red underline]]  I went to Electrical Show and University Club.
Oct 18. Here all day. Finished reading Gerard's Book [[red underline]] "My four years in Germany" [[/red underline]] Intensely interesting and explains very well past

Oct 19. this morning while I was driving to New York, [[red underline] George [[/red underline]] crossed me in his taxicab from the station.  Hurried hand shake. [[red underline]] Looks fine has passed very well all his exams. [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] esp [[/strikethrough]] in several branches [[red underline]] obtained 100 in others 95 and over. What a difference with his former attitude to school exams or his work at the University. Shows once more that as soon as you can arouse interest, practical interest in a subject of study the [[strikethrough]] remain [[/strikethrough]] application and enthusiasm come naturally, provided the subject means something. [[/red underline]]
At [[red underline]] 9:30 A.M. began presiding meeting to discuss chemical problems relating to better fuel for aviation motors.  Were present: Prof Halett Princeton, Naramore, and Dr. Dean [[/red underline]]
