Jan 7. At home. Getting thru belated mail
Jan 8. Yesterday talked with [[red underline]] Gothelf [[/red underline]] about his renewal of contract  
We agreed for contract from Nov 15, 1917 to Jan 1, 1919. [[red underline]] 2200 regular salary and minimum bonus 500. yearly [[/red underline]] 
Jan 9. Mtg [[red underline]] Board directors [[/red underline]] early at 10:30 A.M. postponed since last week. [[red underline]] Yearly sales [[/red underline]] about [[red underline]] $1,250,000. [[/red underline]] Went to Bank to get my eleven [[red underline]] Liberty Bonds of $1000. [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] and five [[/strikethrough]] held as collateral for loan of $10,000 which I repaid and $5000. Farm Loan Bonds of which they have exchanged the first certificates. Then drove home with Celine.

Went to Bank then long interview with [[red underline]] Knowlton about Hooker complicated and vast projects which I consider dangerous and [[/red underline]] inopportune at present. No time to make such complicated and ramifying projects when the bottom is shifting everyday.
