All day at home dictating etc. Feel very nervous and restless. This evening newspapers announce a [[underlined in red]] new order of General Crowder that all men of draft age must be occupied in useful work. [[/underlined in red]] Order seems to include [[underlined in red]] chauffeurs. [[/underlined in red]]

Carnegie Foundation has spent $120000 [[/underlined in red]] last year for [[underlined in red]] optical glass [[/underlined in red]] problem and 35 men employed on it.
