Aug 15. In New York all day. Tried to buy binnacles for compas but none of that size to be found Lunch at Chemists Club. Supper at University Club. Violent rain pour and thunderstorm [[red underline]] Albert [[/red underline]] on the [[red underline]] Ion painting [[/red underline]]
Aug 16 Went aboard Ion in the morning. [[red underline]] Albert [[/red underline]] scraping and painting roof of cabin. He went ashore [[strikethrough]] [[even]] [[/strikethrough]] to night. [[strikethrough]] Sta [[/strikethrough]]I stayed aboard.
[[strikethrough]] Aug 17 (Sunday) Cool calm weather Wrote out sketch of [[Wappter?]] Formica suit [[/strikethrough]]
After dark went out up the river with my [[red underline]] motor dinghy [[/red underline]] and noticed phosphorescent spots in the wake. 
Aug 17 (Sunday). Went for lunch at Snug Rock [[red underline]] Nina [[/red underline]] is constantly talking about her

[[red underline]] fiance. There is hardly a sentence where she does not speak about him. [[/red underline]] Zeeryp his wife and [[red underline]] Nina [[/red underline]] went with me aboard the Ion. [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]] does not like the water for fear of rolling so stayed ashore.
Took in gasoline & water and went out until sunset [[strikethrough]] Sh [[/strikethrough]] [[red underline]] James [[/red underline]] spent morning & part of afternoon [[red underline]] painting [[/red underline]] roof of cabins. They all went ashore for supper while I remained aboard.
Aug 18 Continuous rain since last night. [[red underline]] Albert [[/red underline]] came aboard at 8 A.M. tells me about [[red underline]] general strike in subway and Elevated in New York. [[/red underline]]
Aug 19. Left anchorage at 8:25 calm nice weather but cloudy
