Sept 24. Beautiful clear day. Southerly winds. went out in [[underlined in red]] power dinghy [[/underlined in red]] exploring every shore of the Bay. This is indeed a beautiful bay for yachting [[underlined in red]] James [[/underlined in red]] scraped the mahogany railing. I went to the village to buy papers and supplies Evening got [[underlined in red]] more oysters [[/underlined in red]] at low tide. Excellent oysters!
Sept 25. Beautiful weather. S.W. winds Much trouble starting engine then it went badly. till we finally put in fresh plugs. Anchored for lunch in Lloyds Harbor. and while there took a swim. later proceeded to [[underlined in red]] Huntington Bay [[/underlined in red]] and anchored overnight before the Yacht Club at [[underlined in red]] Northport. [[/underlined in red]] Clear brisk weather. Wind turned northerly
Sept 26. Left at 8 A.M and arrived 12 M. at Manhasset Bay

anchorage. Bright windy weather. Brisk Northern abeam for awhile. Went out most of afternoon in power dinghy exploring the Bay. [[strikethrough]] in my bathing suit [[/strikethrough]] Caught cold in the head Very uncomfortable feeling all night and no sleep.
Sept 27. Up at 6. cold northern blowing. still much bothered with my cold. Left at 7 A.M. engine works perfectly. weather clear and crisp. At [[strikethrough]] Kingsbridge [[/strikethrough]] Spryton Drynel Bridge [[/underlined in red]] delay, shut off engine then started again. A sharp noise and [[underlined in red]] engine refused to work [[/underlined in red]] On examination found cam shaft gear stripped. Anchored then * got towed to yacht yard nearby [[underlined in red]] (Reliance Motor Co) [[/underlined in red]] telephoned for Lewis to Yonkers. Busy till 4 PM to take cam shaft out.
