Oct 14.  Went to get C.W. Warner to examine my [[red underline]] Ralnes [[/red underline]] engine. He is an expert on this. Says motor badly timed, rocker arms n.g, carburetor out of order etc Much valuable advice. Remained on [[red underline]] boat [[/red underline]] till evening when went to University Club where had invited Caudrelier to meet [[red underline]] Frank Sprague [[/red underline]] for supper. [[red underline]] Caudrelier [[/red underline]] wants to interest his [[strikethrough]] company [[/strikethrough]] Bank in [[red underline]] Bakelite [[/red underline]]

11/ for Europe. Told him that I have very scant enthusiasm in any new commercial enterprise which is going to load me with new responsibilities.  He asks me to write to [[red underline]] La Valette [[/red underline]] to [[strikethrough]] sp [[/strikethrough]] postpone forming a company till he has [[strikethrough]] seen him in [[/strikethrough]] spoken to him in Paris. - [[red underline]] All this does not interest me in fact vexes me. I have more bakelite cares than I want and I do not desire further complications in Europe. money or additional income does not tempt me in the least.  Told him so, but promised to write to La Valette to morrow stating things just [[/red underline]] as they are.
Oct 15.  Here all day.  Evening went to University Club.  showed the [[red underline]] La Valette letter to Caudrelier who seems rather disappointed at my lack of enthusiasm etc. [[/red underline]]
