Mutual of Patchogue locked in with us at about 9 A.M. Delayed about 45 min. at bridge near [[red underline]]  Johnson's factory [[/red underline]] on account of a tow ahead of us. Soon passed tow & houseboat. Bridges promptly opened except at Trenton. Perfect
weather splendid vegetation [[strikethrough]] Pretty [[strikethrough]] Lovely wooded landscape around Princeton and Carngie Lake. Arrived [[red underline]]  Trenton [[/red underline]] about 5 P.M. there caught up with several other motor boats and a sloop (auxil.) "Tramp" with a fat man and his wife in Kaki trousers. Also a sturdy raised cabin motor boat [[red underline]] "Frans" [[/red underline]] with a big sail on a sturdy

mast, manned by [[red underline]] two Norwegians bound for Florida. [[/red underline]] Considerable delay at R.R. bridge (30'-40') then later at each passenger bridge.
Locks now going down and rather steeply, then run as fast as possible along R.R. to [[red underline]]  Bordentown [[/red underline]] where arrived just at dark. Tied up along rickety old platform on [[strikethrough]] starbo [[/strikethrough]] port side overnight along-side a barge. A French Canadian ^[[Le Rose]] who had lost an eye in the war helped us tie up. Quiet calm anchorage
Oct 12. Up at daybreak, then after some delay locked thru last lock. Some cautious steering at first [[strikethrough]] alon [[/strikethrough]] to avoid shoal in Delaware. River well buoyed. Weather clear at first turns to rain, then foggy and torrential showers all the way until [[red underline]] Philadelphia [[/red underline]] is reached
then rather foggy. Busy [[red underline]] Philadelphia in fog [[/red underline]] makes a rather grim picture
