None of the shy-and-sly type of lawyer who hinders instead of helping negotiations. He presents an entirely new plan which however is rejected and we come back to our plan as discussed last week: Many details rehashed in making Goldsmith acquainted with our point of view. We are all learning about the details. 
Busy till about 6 P.M., Townsend had to leave somewhat earlier. I feel very tired

Took Schleussner and Hays for supper to Columbia University Club to further discuss the situation. Our ideas agree pretty much. After dinner went back to Yonkers rather

tired while Schleussner and Hays drove to Schleussner's house for further discussion
Dec. 9. Townsend cannot come this morning except later Had early conference at 9 AM with Schleussner and Hays. Then came Karpen et all. Little progress made Karpen suggests we should combine Condensite and G.B. Co and let Redmanol alone for a few months after which he would know better what to do. Altho I [[strikethrough]] ha [[/strikethrough]] had such a plan in contemplation in the past, this would hardly do now since Karpen would know everything both about G.B.C and Redmanol and have every advantage above us who would be guessing.
