and my eyes both like two slits. Went to visit ^[[Dr]] Lyon at hospital where he has undergone surgical operation.
Then visited his house boat Bingo I noticed following defects on his houseboat:
1/ Rear cabin only 5'10" high
2/. Hatch to rear cabin in the way of upper deck thus cutting down floor space of upper deck which is still made smaller by two large boxes housing gasoline tank.
3/ Badly ventilated galley [[strikethrough]] fore [[/strikethrough]] in bow thus distributing odor thru whole length of ship
4/ Captain tells me she is hard to steer in a strong beam wind
5/ Crew quarters rather cramped and insufficient provision for machine-shop and repairing

Afterwards visited new Bedford Schooner. (Capt & owner Whitfield Fairhaven Mass) 50'x15'x4' centerboard. has 35 hp. 3 cylinder Murray & Tragurthy Engine 
Very compact, flywheel in casing. Door of casing easily swung out for inspection. Newly built. Has about 12" Bullwark all around. Large cockpit. Large engine room aft and two ^[[good]] beds aft, just forward of cockpit. Centerboard housing in main cabin with two flaps as table 
Coal and Ice chute from deck. No sail locker as sails remain on deck. Has sail covers tightly wound around mast so that no water can leak in that way forward of boom. No spinaker and no square sail. Says spinaker not necessary runs wing and wing or uses engine
