Undulating grazing lands with only here and there some patches under cultivation. Ocean in the distance on the left. [[red underline]] roads narrow but good. [[/red underline]] Excellent newly constructed [[strikethrough]] brid [[/strikethrough]] small bridges over narrow streams Many [[red underline]] Arab farmers [[/red underline]] on the roads donkeys, mules a few [[red underline]] camels [[/red underline]] Everything [[red underline]] looks clean and [[?]] [[/red underline]] Newly built houses here and there trees being planted along the roads. All by French Government. [[red underline]] Much more pleasant and tidier than in Egypt and Arabs are more dignified and do not bother you with backseesh. [[/red underline]]
Arrive at [[red underline]] Rabat [[/red underline]] in a newly built edifice, restaurant store and station for Omnibus Company. Arab boy puts my two dress suit cases balanced on his head and carries the

two other valises in his hand around the high crenelated walls of the old arab town to the [[red underline]] Hotel Transatlantique [[/red underline]] which is about 20 minutes walk. The hotel is full however on account of the unusual number of automobile bus round trip travelers organized by Compagnie transatlantique Was referred to a small hotel about 1/2 mile further [[red underline]] Hotel du Marne. [[/red underline]] kept by a woman and her daughter. No restaurant but clean simple room Weather is better, rain has stopped. Took dinner at Transatlantique = 15 frcs x 7c $1.05 1/2 Bottle champagne 13.50 frc x 7c = 98c Went walking through [[red underline]] old town [[/red underline]] very arabic. (See guide book) Note many [[red underline]] stork nests on minarets [[/red underline]] and crenelated moorish walls
