Drove to Mr. Brouneau with our bent anchor selfstarter and pump gear. He keeps a hardware store and machine shop. Very obliging French Canadian a stalwart blacksmith soon straightens shank of anchor 
An intelligent and skilful machinist starts with the other repair jobs.
Then I go to Frontenac. There found a very cheerful letter of [[underline]] Celine [[/underline]] who is in the Adirondacks and I answered by letter telegram

Took lunch at Frontenac then walked thru old picturesque town. Prettier than ever. Most guests in Frontenac are Americans of every description. Many of them came in their Fords or other motor cars. Excellent lunch with bottle of ale 
Returned about 4 P.M. on board. Lewis faithfully wrestling with clutch problem. Weather has become very calm and sunny.
July 20 (Sunday) Bright sunny and quiet. Barometer high. Lewis studying clutch. Took lunch at Frontenac then went driving in old caleche to environs of town. Everything seems improved and cleaner. Plains of Abraham have been transformed
