Left for [[underline]] Rochester [[/underline]] by 11.00 P.M train.
Dec. 1.  Arrive Rochester 8.00 AM  Billings there with his car.  Took me to Sagamore Hotel.  A new and excellent hotel.  Well run and rather different from the average large hotel.
It snows.  Restful day until at 5 P.M [[underline]] Dr. Mees [[/underline]] came to take me to his house where he had arranged dinner for me and about a half dozen of his staff.  Mrs. Mees headed the table.  Talk about home brew.

[[underline]] Dr. Shepherd [[/underline]] seems to be a wide awake well informed little fellow.
Then my lecture at the University.  Good attendance.  [[underline]] Dr. Chambers [[/underline]] there also [[underline]] Flynn [[/underline]] formerly of Nepera Chemical Co who seemed very glad to meet me again
Lectured from 8.45 to 9.45.  Did not go very well but lecture was well received and very well reported next day in the local newspaper
Felt rather tired.
Dec. 2.  Not well rested.  At 10.40 AM took train to [[underline]] Syracuse.  McNair [[/underline]] there with secretary of the Section who drove me to new and excellent Syracuse Hotel.  Sadtler Plan
Rested all day.  Evening lectured at [[underline]] Chamber of Commerce. [[/underline]]  This section is at low ebb since Solvay Co chemists have been shaken up
