red disc could be seen with naked eye.  Radiating Corona and on the lower right hand quarter one of the circle, luminous, [[underline]] reddish violet [[\underline]] flaming [[strikethrough]] protu [[/strikethrough]] excrescences were well visible.  A very impressive sight, then within a few seconds a luminous spot of the sun pierced again, flooding the landscape with light and the darkening was over.  Took train to New York.
