took us to Roof Garden of Eden Hotel near the Zoo, where we had an excellently prepared lunch. There was music in the open air but few guests. - Everything made an excellent impression of pleasant restfulness. [[red underline]] Robinson and Lowe [[/red underline]] of Bakelite Limited were returning to England after having studied technical details of mfg etc. here this being a reciprocity visit after Elbel and Weger of Bakelite Gesellschaft had visited the British Bakelite Co. - [[strikethrough]] P [[/strikethrough]]

But early in morning took long walk in [[red underline]] Triergarten [[/red underline]] park which at this season is at its best. Everything well kept and green, few promenaders but many men young and old of both sexes out on their bicycles or motorcycles for a day in the country. Most of them are [[red underline]] bareheaded [[/red underline]] in fact Germany had adopted the sport habits of the U.S. and [[strikethrough]] carried it s [[/strikethrough]] and even in the street well dressed people walk [[red underline]] bareheaded [[/red underline]] while sporting a cane.
English "shorts" with bare knees and ditto calves have become popular as well as Kaki simple

[[left margin in red]] An improved Germany [[/left margin in red]]
This is a very different [[strikethrough]] Germ [[/strikethrough]] Berlin from what I saw last in 1913. - when glittering uniforms everywhere and striking uniforms were the most apparent. - While now one sees very few uniforms outside the police. - The other uniforms are the few landmarks one sees now and then in a rather modest uniform. Even the police uniforms are quiet and modest. The people in the streets are also more simply dressed even on Sunday. The clean and simple business suit is the rule. The morning suit or the Prince Albert coat so much affected in the past, seems to have disappeared as well as the silk hat.
The former [[red underline]] "elegance" [[/red underline]] is gone but so is the [[red underline]] "arrogance!" [[/red underline]]
The Germans have imitated that queer haircut style which some of our Western colleges had introduced among their football teams of cutting the hair very close with a clipper all around the temples and the back leaving a bush of hair in the center on top which makes the remaining hair look like a cap. A very unesthetic haircut. But the Germans have still further exaggerated it so as to bring forth the most comical effects specially on a fat man, with a thick neck ^[[neck]] and a head like a bladder.
