Commodore [[red underlined]] Ralph Munroe [[/red underlined]] died Saturday. [[red underlined]] 82 [[/red underlined]] years old.  A dear friend & noble soul, pioneer of Coconut Grove has been ill for some time so his death was not unexpected. We have been excellent friends ever since I met him in 1923. I wish I had made his acquaintance many years sooner.

[[red underlined]] David Fairchild [[/red underlined]] dictated a letter to his nurse at the [[red underlined]] Deaconess hospital [[/red underlined]] in Boston. He is [[red underlined]] making progress. [[/red underlined]] His physician says there are few cases on record of rhumatic fever at his age.
[[underlined]] Sept 5. [[/underlined]] [[red underlined]] Celine [[/red underlined]] arrived here with George from the camp. When I told her I intended to leave tomorrow for [[red underlined]] Chicago [[/red underlined]] and had to be back as soon as possible and would have every hour occupied with many matters, she seemed rather disappointed.

I told her this is the very worst time for Chicago and all hotels are crowded and hot weather. Best time is in October and George will go with her. I have to be present at the meeting of Electrochemical Society, then Am. Chemical Society, examine situation of Autopoint Co and be back here well before arrival of Ripper.
