N Y Times. It is told that the war has cost the US [[red underlined]] 41 Billion Dollars not counting in our loans to the Allies which amount to [[strikethrough]] 9 m [[/strikethrough]] 9 billion and which [[/red underlined]] they do not want to pay back making a total of [[red underlined]] 50 Billions! + interest. [[/red underlined]] Of this [[red underlined]] 31 Billions [[/red underlined]] was spent [[red underlined]] in 1918-1919. [[/red underlined]] From 1919 till to day we reduced our [[strikethrough]] mat [[/strikethrough]] material debt 17 billions accompanied at the same time by a reduction of taxes.

till 1932 In [[red underlined]] 1916 [[/red underlined]] our per [[red underlined]] capita debt was [[/red underlined]] only $11.83; [[/red underlined]] in 1919 it [[red underlined]] was $240 [[/red underlined]] in 1935 it will be 250$ (or 160$ in former value if we count the present Dollar at 64 cents)

Even I lived here every day of the year I would take this all for granted. - what a contrast with wintry and noisy New York. [[red underlined]] Garden looks [[/red underlined]] prettier than ever. Place has gained much in appearance since the [[red underlined]] Calverts [[/red underlined]] bought next place and built their house. They have been very considerate in placing their fence a few inches inside their line and making the fence hardly visible. His landing also has been intelligently built and adds to the impression of [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] ^[[my]] seashore. His lower grounds well filled in and graded but has left its surface bare. Probably with some grass on it later. Andrew working on the ION with Williamson. Also house
