Mine, whose name was [[underlined]] Pedro [[/underlined]] of [[underlined in red]] unmistakable East Indian race, [[/underlined in red]] rattled off one after another all the latin names of trees and plants and history of the trees, altho' he knew no latin. But specimens were well provided with clear labels given local names and origin as well as latin nomenclature I was much impressed by an enormous tree a variety of [[underlined in red]] Pithocolobium, [[/underlined in red]] incomparably larger than our variety at Coconut Grove, it is called the [[underlined in red]] "Saman" tree [[/underlined in red]] (Pithecolobium Saman. - We caught a little green [[underlined in red]] snake [[/underlined in red]] - called here [[underlined in red]] "whip snake" [[/underlined in red]] in the grass and gave it to the snake collection.
Marvelous specimen of [[underlined in red]] very tall Royal Palms which here are called Cabbage palms. [[/underlined in red]] I noticed that their trunk looks blackish and uneven as compared to the white clean smooth surface of my Royal Palms at the "Anchorage" of Coconut Grove
