The [[red underlined]] Air plane industry is losing money everywhere [[/red underlined]] since the [[red underlined]] stupid [[/red underlined]] action of that [[red underlined]] Politician Postmaster Farley. [[/red underlined]] - Before he began to treat the [[red underlined]] Aviation [[/red underlined]] company as rascals, only one was able to make scant profits. Now they are all in the red. He says no country could compare with the U.S. in its commercial Air planes and service. Coffin, who as a Southern, very probably belong to the Democratic party, made the following remark: [[red underlined]]
"President Roosevelt is a good politician and knows how to make himself liked by everybody [[/red underlined]] [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] He listens willingly to everybody who comes with a plan and gives the impression of favoring it. appointment. Applies for a job in our Patent Department which gets overcrowded with work.  Interrogated him. Makes good impression. This evening George and Cornelia ^[[came]] here for supper.
[[underlined]] Nov. 16. [[/underlined]] [[red underlined]] Leyden [[/red underlined]] came back. Told him we will put him on trial, and he has to undergo physical examination. If trial passed [[strikethrough]] is right [[/strikethrough]] shows satisfactory he will be paid same salary as he got from firm he left (1800$ yearly) until he is worth more.

Then walked from 14 st. Pier to Century (42nd street) left Pier 4:45 P.M arrived century at 5:45 P.M. Slow progress in walking thru all these crowded streets at time when everybody quits work. Supper at Century met several old friends there also [[red underlined]] Dr. Alexis Carrell - Nobel Prize - [[/red underlined]] and member of Rockefeller Medical Research Institute. - Had not seen him since many year and had a [[red underlined]] long interesting talk. [[/red underlined]] on subjects of common interest.
[[underlined]] Nov. 17. [[/underlined]] At Yonkers all day. Bright cool weather. - Letter writing and studying. Celine out painting in morning and with the children in afternoon.
