[[/underline]] Happened to meet [[red underline]] Berliss [[/red underline]] in our office building. - Seems to be well acquainted with [[red underline]] Catalin [[/red underline]] people. Told him that if Catalin starts a suit against us they will encounter better prepared and stronger defense than in their recent patent suit against a weak unprepared concern. [[underline]] Aug 7. [[/underline]] [[red underline]] Washington [[/red underline]] is still busy brewing drastic taxation, under [[red underline]] Roosevelts, [[/red underline]] "share the [[red underline]] wealth" [[/red underline]] tendencies. Taxation of estates + taxation of [[red underline]] inheritances [[/red underline]] comes near [[red underline]] confiscation. [[/red underline]] One of the Belgian graduates of Prof. [[red underline]] Dony-Herrault [[/red underline]] of the University of Brussels and enjoyed a years scholarship & travel here from R.C.B. Educational Foundation, was recommended to me by Dr. Galpin, called at the office before sailing back to Belgium

Took him then for luncheon at University Club. His name is Schreurs or Steurs?

This evening went to meeting of members of the [[red underline]] C.R.B. Educational Foundation [[/red underline]] of which I was made recently a member. We had an informal simple dinner at the Yale Club. Many of my friends there. [[red underline]] Grenade, Mali, Rickard, Galpin [[/red underline]] The 2 [[red underline]] Tucks [[/red underline]] etc. The meeting was specially called for making the new members acquainted. A very pleasant evening 
[[underline]] Aug 8. [[/underline]] [[red underline]] Anniversary 46th of my wedding [[/red underline]] Celine arrived here last night from camp and reports everybody well and happy. We celebrated the event by driving to New York. [[red underline]] Visited first Roerich Museum [[/red underline]] (China etc) on Riverside Drive,ͯ then took luncheon at the [[red underline]] Claremount Restaurant, [[/red underline]] which still very much looks and is run as when we first came to New York.

Furniture, tables decorations, even color of paint and view and surroundings of the River all remind us of the past and our earlier years. One thing has changed, no longer those "buggies" and horse carriages which brought the guests and visitors. Only automobiles. A very enjoyable luncheon and happy at the event, while talking of old times.

ͯ After visiting Roerich Museum Dick drove us to the Museum of Natural History - an old acquaintance - always intensely interesting The most striking new features is the African Room, which
