Evening was invited by [[red underline]] Sir Robert Robertson [[/red underline]] to his flat 51 Bedford Court Mansion. Was received by his daughter and wife, also his son [[red underline]] in kilts, [[/red underline]], a young chemical engineer who afterwards entertained us by dancing a Scotch dance in kilts. Later on came Dr. Goodwin (Canada) and his sister, also Professor Barton, Iowa University with his wife and we were all taken to the reception of [[red underline]] MacDonald at Lancaster House. [[/red underline]]. A brilliant affair.

Has a very fine head. A pity that this man had to go in politics. A very charming evening. Was astonished to find so many people who knew me or my work. In the morning a few of us were the guests of [[red underline]] Lord Leverhulme [[/red underline]] at the Dorchester Hotel Park Lane, for luncheon. Again very pleasant weather with sunshine - 12:45 PM. The official banquet started at 7:00 PM for 7:30 PM. The many guests filled the enormous room. The President, Lord Leverhulme presiding, on his right sat [[red underline]] MacDonald [[/red underline]] representing the Government, and was accompanied by [[red underline]] his daughter [[/red underline]] who in her [[red underline]] simple dress [[/red underline]] and intelligent honest face, and wide awake eyes made a most excellent impression. Her very [[red underline]] simplicity of dressing [[/red underline]] and none of the present artificialities of the "beauty parlor", made a pleasant contrast to the rouged lips and ditto finger nails of so many bejewelled women.
