This evening the Radio brought us the news of the battle near Urugay between British warships and German war ships. The German ship [[strikethrough]] "Admiral [[/strikethrough]] "Graf Spee" took finally refuge in the harbor of Montevideo and anchored there with its crew and after having been bom-

barded by the British men of War, bearing several holes in her hull besides interior dammage on machinery etc. The who radio message was clearly audible here and the announcer kept on for more than an hour. Rendition was so clear that I heard the sloshing of the waves against the sides of the boat on which the announcer spoke. Shortly afterwards [[strikethrough]] th [[/strikethrough]] just after the German man of war, was proceeding seaward, there was a loud explosion, followed by sinking of the boat. Then a little later we were told that the [[strikethrough]] Am [[/strikethrough]] German Admiral X

had commited suicide by firing a bullet thru his head. It was told that Hitler had ordered the Admiral to sink his boat.
