March 2. = All out in ION to Matheson's Island. - Left at 9:30. AM back at noon. Dickie, Hessert, Nina and her husband. Glorious weather [[underline]] March 3 [[/underline]] = Sunday. Again beautiful weather. Visited again the Hacienda with von Hessert, Dickie, Wyman, Nina and Celine. [[vertical note in left margin]]  [[strikethrough]] 106. [[/strikethrough]] 169.717 [[/vertical note in left margin]] [[underline]] March 4. [[/underline]] Left early on ION with Dickie v. Hessert, and [[strikethrough]]Nina [[/strikethrough]] Celine. Under power to Estate of Mr. Honey Well Beautiful weather. Left harbor at 9:10 A.M. light westerly wind Arrived at Honey Well's harbor and tower 11:30 AM. Left the harbor at 12:45 P.M. Moderate wind back in our harbour about 5 P.M. Caught no fish and for some time stopped motor and ran under sail. - All enjoyed the trip. [[vertical note in left margin]] Nina & her husband had to leave for North [[/vertical note in left margin]] Newspapers announced unusually bad weather in the North and West and doing great dammage [[underline]] March 5. [[/underline]] Again beautiful weather The von Hesserts packed their dog in a box to take him in their compartment in the train. - Unusually intelligent dog. - Will be liberated as soon as the Hesserts are in their sleeping private compartment. Mailed photos and reprints of some of my photos and reprints of some of my publications to Professor A.J.J. van de Velde of Ghent University. This evening  had visit of R.W. Harrison his wife and another lady. Harrison friendly as ever. Tells me

he is 6 years older than I am [[underline]] March 6. [[/underline]] Mailed full Sunday edition of New York Times to van de velde. - Strong rain and lightening last night, followed by [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] beautiful weather In the North violent storms and snow.
March 7. - Wrote felicitations to Prof. Arthur Lamb for his promotion. - Also to Weicht editor of Newspaper in  [[blank space]]
Afternoon went out on ION to Gulf stream and Towey Rocks light house, with Anddrew and Rowl Ion behaved very well with Diesel also with sail. Left our harbor at 1:54 P.M. reached Towey Rock Light 3:25 P.M
[[vertical note in left margin]] 50° F early morning [[/vertical note in left margin]] We had reached Bacon 10 at 2:30 PM
[[underline]] March 8 [[/underline]] Violent wind all day from S.W. but sunny skies. This morning went out to test flat fishing boat with [[strikethrough]] outdoor motor [[/strikethrough]] outboard motor. Motor worked O.K but sea waves driven by N.W. strong breeze. made us all wet
This morning sent a telegram congratulating Dr. John M. Nelson who tonight is to receive the W.H. Nichols medal by the N.Y Section of A.C.S. Mailed a letter of congratulations to my friend Dr. Springer (Alfred Springer) Cincinnati Ohio
