May 25, 1932 too much poison. Some using studded stations - some drags & some according to reposts were scattering its promiscuous in certain places. Discussed these matters with Sans. Grundy & McTimminds & Mattice seemed the worst offenders in 1930-31 all improved some in 1931-32. In evening to dinner at an Italian joint where for 150 we had a fine dinner full of interesting things. May 26, 1932 Left Reno 600 AM arr Ely 845 PM after a most interesting ride. We crossed several desert mountain ranges with fine floral displays of [[underlined]] Phlox rigida [[/underlined]], a yellow & also a pink annual Mimmulus, Onethorea pallida and a tall Onethora - annual with cluster of white flowers at end of 1 foot stalk, several yellow or white annual crucifer - a tiny Penstemon Glaber not over four inches high & sometimes absolutely decumbent. A thing like a 4'clock, several Eriogonums new to me, a scarlet Mallow that is a beauty & a most astounding red paint brush 4-8 inches high that looked like balls of scarlet fire in the land scape. At Austin we met Cap. Ed. Marvel President Nevada Land and Livestock Assn who was outspoken & apparently very sincere in his praise of Sans and his men. Met Doug Tandy of Austin, speaker of last Nevada Assembly. Saw many birds + never saw deserts look so green and inviting.
